support for your Montessori practice

Clarify your authenticity of practice, and increase productivity and competitiveness with our guided framework for Montessori Education.

our commitment to you

You will be part of an Australian movement where Montessori Standards and Guidelines are used as measurable elements to support business excellence where governance and leadership can assess their performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, and take measures for improvement, positive growth, and development of Montessori schools (public, faith-based, independent), Early Childhood Education and Care providers.

You will gain access to a professional framework that addresses National Reform and the National Quality Standards of assessment and accountability through a ‘Montessori lens’. This framework is developed in strict adherence to authentic Montessori practice and is part of an integrated systems approach to measure the continuous improvement of your organisation’s education delivery.

What is the framework?

Providers of early childhood education and care centres, including schools, in Australia, undergo regular government quality audits of required standards under the National Quality Framework (NQF) legislation.

Our program is streamlined, based on self-assessment, and aids your team to identify and develop your child-centred approach while complying with external accreditation by ACECQA and State Education Departments.

The Montessori Quality: Authentic Practice Standards and Guidelines are to be used in conjunction with the State and Commonwealth quality audits and have been developed to assist schools and centres to regularly self-assess their organisations to assure that they are providing authentic Montessori practice to meet the expectations of customers and stakeholders.

A verification audit to provide external validation of the self-assessment completes the ‘Supporting Reflective Development’ process.

By not duplicating National Quality Standards, we have reduced the work involved for your Centre. The MQ:AP guidelines define authentic practices that support Australia’s National Quality Framework and add value to Montessori organisations.  They provide theory, methods, and tools for improving practice and support the social return on the government investment into education services.

The guidelines also clarify the Montessori philosophy to the broader community providing a framework for families to better understand what they are getting when they enrol their child in a Montessori programme.

 Some common questions we’re asked.

Does this mean more work for my centre?

A key goal of the new programme was to streamline and simplify the Montessori Registered process for centres and schools that are already under strict Australian legislation for continuous improvement.  That is why it is tailor-made for Australian Montessori education providers and links the NQS colour coding with the Montessori Standards for ease of use. It provides a framework that guides you to embed authentic practice throughout your organisation.

Are these new Montessori standards?

Business performance in 2021 cannot be based on a model developed in 2007. The revised Montessori Standards include two new Standards. The new elements give “the child” and “stakeholders” (families and government) a prominent place because the organisation needs to satisfy the expectations of all stakeholders to provide a result of ‘excellence’ and achieve a lasting influence in the education sector.

Will I have to undertake further study and training?

We all need to continue to learn from each other. However, we can choose our preferred method of increasing our understanding of the integrated systems approach. Montessori Registered member schools and centres will have a portal with key resources.  There will be specific training for Authentic Practice Guides, offered under the Montessori Australia schedule of Professional Development. The Leadership of an organisation will select their Authentic Practice Guides. For educators interested in the Montessori Registered whose organisation is not a member, an individual membership can be purchased, which allows the individual to attend the Guide training if it is an area of interest for their professional development.

What are some of the benefits of joining?

The Montessori Registered programme provides your organisation with:

  • clarity of purpose, avoiding duplication of efforts.

  • a clear framework for continuous improvement, moving away from the external ‘tick’ model.

  • guidelines for authenticity, backed by data analysis.
