Montessori Australia

Promoting a framework for professional standards in Montessori Education.

The Montessori Registered team at Montessori Australia develops, implements, monitors, and reviews the Montessori Standards and Guidelines in consultation with school staff, directors and educators. The team then develops an action framework to support self-assessment through reflective development of schools and centres.

The Montessori Registered team provides specific training for guides about their role in supporting school and centre leadership, how to complete the online self-assessment, quality tools for continuous improvement, documentation, networking, and professional mentoring.

All schools and early childhood centres are eligible to participate and will be promoted on the Montessori Australia websites and directories.

Some common questions we get asked.

Who is the MQ:AP Team?

The Montessori Registered Team consists of experienced Montessori and quality management practitioners from across Australia who all have extensive experience in working in and supporting Montessori programmes. This team is contracted by the Montessori Quality Organisation and has been responsible for developing the Montessori Quality: Authentic Practice Supporting Reflective Development Programme.

Who are the Guides?

The role of the guide is crucial to the success of the Montessori Registered Supporting Reflective Practice. All guides are selected by their Principal/Owner to be trained in the collection and analysis of data that relate to the Montessori Standards and Guidelines to support leadership in an integrated systems approach to quality Montessori education in Australia. They have undertaken specific guide training and are committed to ensuring that the process is supportive and positive for everyone involved.

The programme aims to develop a confidential and trusting relationship with staff in schools and centres. The guide will support the school or centre on their plan to meet the quality standards.

Who are the Verifiers?

Montessori Registered Verifiers are part of the Montessori Registered Team and are trained to provide consistent verification of the Montessori self-assessment. Verifiers have extensive experience in training, mentoring and working in Montessori environments. Regular networking and supporting processes ensure continuing reflection on the best practice Standards, self-assessment procedures and consistent verification practices. A full verification report will be provided within two months of the visit.

How are the verification visits coordinated?

The Verification Team assigned to a school or centre will contact the Principal, CEO or Director or guide to discuss the self-assessment forms, the plan, and schedule a visit. During the visit, the team will meet with the Guide, stakeholders, governance and the management team and observe the classroom. The team will prepare a written report of the visit sent to the school or centre and the Montessori Registered Division within two months. The team will make follow up telephone contact with those involved in the process and partner with the school or centre in its Montessori Registered journey.
